REBORN

In researching the process of making materials with their own non-fixed properties, I found that artificial expressions of material forms can awaken certain emotions in people, materials will appear with abstract ideas which have direct significance for design. I named it REBORN because the material I use, cotton, is a longing and a promise from my grandma, who is thousands of miles away. She's always worried about me, so she made a cotton quilt with her own hands. When everyday materials are infused with time and feelings, concrete and realistic materials become emotional and conscious, just as soft cotton will become a strong support for me.

The water model demonstrates that in urban environments dominated by impermeable surfaces and concrete, polluted runoff quickly flows into streams without adequate filtration, which can lead to flooding. In contrast, restoring daylighted creeks alongside native plants and soils naturally filters water and reduces flood risks. Additionally, bio-swales are employed to filter pollutants, capture sediments, and purify water, while constructed ponds and dams serve to accumulate water and slow its flow, thereby creating valuable habitats.
